Quality Engineer

We are seeking a talented Quality Engineer to ensure our procedures and standards remain outstanding. This crucial role operates right across the business, requires high attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Quality Engineer

We are recruiting a Quality Engineer with experience in the automotive industry to support the development of QMS systems and ensure continuation of audit certificates. To work with new development prototype and R&D projects ensuring all correct processes are followed.

With excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you should be able to prioritise and manage your own workload with great attention to detail. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that customer and internal identified quality issues are resolved using standard problem solving methods eg 8D.
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Good knowledge of using and programming CMM.
  • Establishing and maintaining a high performing quality culture and processes appropriate to the business as it grows and evolves.
  • Supporting and nurturing a learning environment of continuous improvement, working with the wider team to identify problems and collaboratively work through to root cause fixes.
  • Actively use and develop KPIs to identify problems and validate controls.
  • Understanding evolving internal and external customer quality needs and implement plans to ensure these needs are met.
  • Ensuring that quality requirements are understood from an early stage of product design and managed from design, procurement, inspection, assembly and testing through to customer delivery.
  • Supporting achievement of and sustaining ISO9001, as well as preparing for IATF certification.
  • Create and continuously improve quality processes and documentation to meet certification requirements.
  • Support engineering and operations to develop products, processes, tools and test equipment which ensure we consistently meet customer expectations.
  • Support component and sub-system procurement with supplier evaluation, quality plans and tooling capability development.
  • Identify inspection and measurement requirements. Source equipment and resource, or manage outsourced measurement and testing as appropriate.
  • Ensure that you always understand and comply with Health and safety at work regulations.
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out in a safe and controlled manner, whilst also being compliant with quality requirements.
  • Ensure that you always comply to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements and act as a role model to others on site.
  • Ensure you understand product safety and customer specific requirements and help to ensure that they are always met.
  • To assist where applicable, with ensuring the company achieves and maintains quality certifications and continually work withing relevant guidelines.
  • To assist in other areas of the business as required.
  • Always present a professional image of oneself, the department, and the company.

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential Skills: 

  • Experience in a highly controlled manufacturing environment, ideally aerospace or automotive.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and processes, and how to implement them.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a rapidly evolving business.
  • Advanced knowledge of using and programming CMM
  • Good understanding of reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Full understanding of the 8D process and management
  • Good understanding of measurement methods and techniques.

Desirable: 

  • Experience with both mechanical and electronic assembly and test.
  • Experience in supplier quality assurance and tooling quality development.
  • Experience in an SME environment.

Salary

Range £30-40k depending on experience.
