The Board

The Board has extensive experience in finance, automotive technology and engineering and of particular relevance small company commercialisation and buy-out. Board Members have served as directors of both major public and start-up companies.

Richard Wall: CEO

Richard Wall received a BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Liverpool and later wrote a prize-winning thesis leading to an MSc in Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technology from the same institution.

Richard joined Johnson Controls Incorporated and was soon promoted to Engineering Manager leading a team of 25+ with multi million pound budget responsibility. After 5 years with JCI, he moved to Invensys Plc to run a product design and lean consultancy team, with 9 reports across Europe and the US, reducing new product time to market by over 50%.

From 2004 he worked for Omitec Group, an SME specialising in the design and manufacture of automotive powertrain diagnostic equipment, where he had several operational responsible roles in the UK, before starting and growing subsidiaries in China and USA. For these assignments he relocated with his family on each occasion.  The business was sold to Continental, the international Tier 1 automotive supply group in July 2012.

Since this time Richard has worked as a senior member of Continental’s Diagnostics and Services (D&S) management team as Head of Global Sales to develop the business for major OEMs for all D&S products and services. He managed a team located across key global automotive markets dividing his time between Continental’s operations in UK, Germany, Japan and the U.S.

Richard is married with children and the family live in the West Midlands.


Erwin Doll: Director

Erwin Doll graduated as an Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kaiserslautern with a specialty in Theoretical Mechanical Engineering. Erwin is currently a Member of Management Board of Röchling SE & Co. KG, a Tier 1 manufacturer serving most of the OEMs and which has an annual turnover of over €1.5 billion, 65 plants and 8000 employees world wide. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Röchling Automotive the fastest growing division of the group with a turnover approaching €800 million and 20 plants and 4000 employees in 10 countries. Erwin has over 30 years’ experience working in the automotive industry and is a member of the board and of two sub-committees of the supplier section of the VDA (the German Association of the Automotive Industry) where he enjoys full visibility from OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers, one of the sub committees is comprised of the CEOs of the major suppliers and the Chief Purchasing Officers of the OEMs in the automotive industry.

Clare Twemlow: Director.

Representing New Wave Ventures LLP. ACA qualified with PricewaterhouseCoopers with particular focus on high growth companies. She has 10 years’ experience of Board level positions and is experienced in fund raising and corporate development, with commercial and financial management skills. business advice, development of financial systems and controls, cash flow management and forecasting, business planning and raising finance for a wide variety of businesses.

Duncan Kerr: Director.

Duncan was awarded a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge after completing his undergraduate studies in South Africa.  He has both investment experience having managed Midven’s early stage £10m fund for 6 years and operational experience as a CEO of a range of technology and manufacturing businesses responsible for up to 125 staff.  He has previously been a Finance, Compliance Officer and Equity Analyst at a start-up London-based stockbroker and has co-managed a £30m Venture Capital technology portfolio for a FTSE 350 company, achieving several profitable exits. He is currently an active angel investor consulting and mentoring early stage businesses.

Duncan and his family live in the West Midlands.

Simon Hunt

Following a 20-year career at KPMG, the latter 11 as partner, Simon took up several Group FD and general management appointments. He has since invested in 20+ early stage companies, taking on the role of chairman in several of them.

Simon is an early and significant Aeristech investor in his own right and has considerable experience as a director of private and publicly quoted technology companies. He has led large commercial deals and multi-million pound exits. Simon’s background includes experience in the Automotive sector over many years and he has recently worked with Richard Wall to develop a synopsis on the opportunities and importance of the China market.

Richard Ashmore: Company Secretary and Accountant.

Chartered accountant, director of “Altus Business Consulting & Accountancy Services” – His practice offers strategic and financial business advice, development of financial systems and controls, cash flow management and forecasting, business planning and raising finance for a wide variety of businesses.
